Music and Lockdown
Music has a better power than many things on earth. This is not simply an exaggeration. But my personal experience. Quite often since childhood we enjoy music of all types-Romance, melody, sad, memory etc. But among these the mental reliever is of course the melodious songs. Be it of any language. It cures you a lot. Such kind of a therapy is called a Music Therapy.
Music therapy is the use of music to address the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of a group or individual. It employs a variety of activities, such as listening to melodies, playing an instrument, drumming, writing songs, and guided imagery. Music therapy is appropriate for people of all ages, whether they are virtuosos or tone deaf, struggling with illnesses or totally healthy.
Music therapy touches all aspects of the mind, body, brain and behavior. Music can provide a distraction for the mind, it can slow the rhythms of the body, and it can alter our mood, which in turn can influence behavior.
Such music which provide a great relief to your mind should be heard in silence. You tend to travel yourself to another world or else the aeroplane called lyrics might take you. But sometimes at a particular moment you realise that you had been in another world when an external sound distracts you.
The soothing power of music is well-established. It has a unique link to our emotions, so can be an extremely effective stress management tool.
Listening to music can have a tremendously relaxing effect on our minds and bodies, especially slow, quiet classical music. This type of music can have a beneficial effect on our physiological functions, slowing the pulse and heart rate, lowering blood pressure, and decreasing the levels of stress hormones. Music, in short, can act as a powerful stress management tool in our lives. Music is the best medicine for problems like anxiety, depression, fatigue, exercise physical body, and also improves your memory.
As music can absorb our attention, it acts as a distraction at the same time it helps to explore emotions. This means it can be a great aid to meditation, helping to prevent the mind wandering.
I have heard of some psychological benefits of music. It helps to refresh your memory, Make you patient and you be calm. But at the same time you will be in your own thoughts. It helps to control your anxiety and depression.Listening to music can be entertaining, and some research suggests that it might even make you healthier. Music can be a source of pleasure and contentment, but there are many other psychological benefits as well. Music can relax the mind, energize the body, and even help people better manage pain.
Why do people prefer, music as a stress relief?
Youth of this century is found totally busy as if someone might have said that life is a race and you have to run. Be it business, education or any other field, what is common is the competition. One person wants to be better than the others. They wanted to come to the forefront. And for that, they work hard with the day-night indifference. They have been put into the anxiety that only the best one is eligible for anything. Therefore they stress themselves putting pressure on their head, sleepless nights and no happiness and prefer anti stress medication. The psychological effects of music can be powerful and wide-ranging. Music therapy is an intervention sometimes used to promote emotional health, help patients cope with stress, and boost psychological well-being. Some research even suggests that your taste in music can provide insight into different aspects of your personality.
Apart from medicine's bad effects on the human body internally, non medical methods could help you to gain a peaceful mind to work stress free and calmly. Either using the earplugs or speakers, music especially acoustic music will help you to gain a calm mind. For that one must be patient. Calm yourself and give time for your body to get cooled and rest on its own. Then slowly your mind starts to forget your problems and shifts your mind with the melody of the music and it's rhythm. A slower tempo can quiet your mind and relax your muscles, making you feel soothed while releasing the stress of the day. Music is effective for relaxation and stress management.
Music helps us to fall into sleep. That could be a reason mothers use lullabies to put their children to sleep. Some even prefer to bedtime stories. Many studies and researches have proved that people with schizophrenia, music is a remedy. People before they go to sleep usually listen to relaxing songs either of the classical type or melodious type.
Brain and the body are closely connected to each other. Depending on the message that the brain receives, the body performs accordingly. So, first of all we need to know what kind of music we can rely upon. Once we get used to it, then our brain accepts it and we unconsciously start liking it.
